is also one of the fundamental ones. A person can multiply and divide with radicals only if the index, or root, is the same. Other related areas are Adding and Subtracting Radicals; an individual can add or subtract radical terms only if both the index and the radicand are the same. Matrix operations, another principal areas of algebra which has a wide applicability when it comes to the real life, includes operations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Among other critical areas are finding x-intercept of a line and y-intercept of a line - to get the x-intercept of a line, substitute zero for y in the equation and vice versa for finding y-intercept of a line.

Mr. Cunningham, also my algebra teacher (I loved algebra), seemed stiff and confused by coaching girls, but he was professional about it, never mean, just distant and coached us for two years. My senior year Mr. Laulo stepped in and stuck with it, and actually tried to teach us some tennis skills. How to Successfully Deal With AlgebraThe algebra software on offer in the market today offer far more useful guidelines and help than what is included in formal textbooks, such as homework assistance, interactive lesson plans, games and a worksheet tool or graphing calculator . littlerobothead tells the real story:
" Two thingsâ€"First off, the idea of canon carries with it aesthetic judgment, meaning that its aesthetic authority is implicit with the body creating the canon. If you're saying there's no objective authority, yeah, sure, of course. I don't really think there's any serious claim that can be made to any aesthetic authority objectively; aesthetic authority is always persuasive speech. Second off, I was pretty open about dismissing the idea of a single canon anymore, but I think that's more from practical concerns. I simply do not believe that anyone can be enough of a polymath to be able to criticize a broad canon. Even within genres, like, say, novels, I think holding to a single canon is doomed. But I appreciate the ability to say that it's quixotic.

We were on the ninth-grade field trip. Thirty or so 13- and 14-year-olds, a taciturn Hungarian priest, and a married pair of teachers had ridden a yellow bus down to the Everglades in the spring of 1968. On the day in April 1968 after Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed, we were driving toward a Catholic school in Atlanta on whose gymnasium floor we were planning to sleep, white girls and black girls and Jewish girls on the Mrs. Teacher side of the gym, us heathen savage boys watched over by Father Kovari and Mr. Teacher on our side.

Matrices help solve a lot of complicated problems like the ones present in electrical networks. A matrix is a rectangular array of numbers arranged in rows and columns. The numbers in a matrix are known as entries. Various functions like addition, multiplication and decomposition can be performed on matrices thereby providing realistic answers for theoretical questions.

For this purpose, Jeffrey Morton suggests:
The idea is that there are two ways of categorifying : internalization, and enrichment. A bicategory is a category enriched in , the category of categories for any two elements, there s a whole hom-category of morphisms (and 2-morphisms). A double category is a category internal to . This means you can think of it as a category of objects and a category of morphisms, equipped with functors satisfying all the usual properties for the maps in the definition of a category: composition functors, unit functors, and so forth. This definition turns out to be equivalent to the usual one. So I thought: why not do the same with bicategories?

The only thing that my daughter can "get" is Saxon math. And she excels with it. She did 7/6 and 8/7; last year she went to public school and placed into "Algebra I" but it was such a terrible program and they made hardly any progress all year that she will be home again next year (for a variety of reasons, including most significantly what my heart tells me) and we will put her right back where she left off, starting Algebra 1/2. So.... she personally doesn t have experience with that book yet but I did tutor a girl with it a few years ago and it s the exact same style and approach as the other upper-level Saxon books, and I m finally converted. Sorry for being long!

Why Virtual Tutors are Not Ideal? The only problem with maths courses is that they sometimes do not follow things in a very logical order and this especially is the case when you are a pupil at high school. In the past I had made all homeschool curriculum decisions and my husband wanted no part of making any decisions about it. I am not math phobic and enjoyed math in school, finding it easy to do without much effort (except geometry which actually required effort and studying). My husband is excellent in math and due to his better education than my public school education; he was taking college classes in Calculus while still in private (parochial) high school. He took advanced math in college and loved every minute of it, Calculus being fun for him. (To explain further one downside to my own public school education was we had a new middle school with vigorous programs. I passed Algebra I in Grade 8 which had me on a track with honors students (now called AP classes). However the high school was not vigorous and I was told they didn t have enough math teachers to give all 9th graders Algebra 2 who qualified for it. Because I had parents who did NOT advocate for me at all my guidance counselor plunked me in Algebra I again, repeating the whole darned thing in Grade 9. That put me in Track 2, which was not the Track 1 Honors Track, it was just the Track for college. That meant too that when it came time to take Calculus, I was off schedule and was told you don t really need it as most colleges don t require it . So in high school I took Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and Trigonometry. In case you are wondering, Track 3 in our school was for students who were D students or failing in classes who would immediately begin working for minimum wage after high school graduation in retail or a factory job, or that would attend a trade school such as to be a hairdresser or an electrician. Those kids were flagged from way back in middle school as bordering on failing and were not smart enough for college . (Sorry if that sounds harsh but I m being honest and actually am holding back some of the other facts that are mor e harsh but are still true.)

David Wetzel objects:

While it may be true, Wisher thinks:
So why still use photo negatives when we now have scanners? Convenience and quality. Typically when you scan an image you ll lose detail, whereas with the negatives, you have entire original albums intact in a small envelope. If you have photograph negatives lying around that you d like prints of, your best bet is taking them to a photo lab. You can scan negatives yourself though if you own a properly equipped digital camera or photo scanner. Most regular flatbed scanners won t do this, but with a fluorescent lamp and a high resolution scan you can manage it. Of course with the popularity of digital cameras photograph negatives are needed less and less. But it s still good to understand the basics of photo negatives.

Advance in Studies If a child is already on track, that does not mean he or she can t benefit from online tutoring as well. This is a great opportunity for a child to advance further in studies. There is no such thing as too much knowledge. Mastering and advancing ahead in studies can not only give a child great self-confidence, but can also lead to success in school and in life. Online summer education , is great for this type of advancement because there is flexibility in learning. This allows the child to enjoy the summer, but also ensures time for learning.

Meanwhile, Curmudgeon came up with this idea:
For the student, I have concerns about the security of the data and the inputs: How long will it be before we have the kid's entire life on one database and schools start selling adspace and selling the database to marketers. It's already happening with iGoogle and student editions of Google Mail. How long before someone sells access to the better math students? or the better writers? There are ways to serve the ads that wouldn't violate FERPA. This is not a good thing.
